Microbes, the tiny yet numerous group of organisms that live on our planet, impact our lives in many different ways. We are concerned that many of these "mini-animals" will continue to be pests and predators of humans, causing diseases such as malaria and gonorrhea. In addition to medical and health effects, the role of microbes in the decomposition and recycling of matter is so important that we cannot even estimate it.
